Youth program update

with my abscence the months of november for the ufc 140 training camp the rest of elite training cennew elite mats clean like the old elite matstre’s  staff have been working away at getting the additional training space open in the academy and we are happy to say things are finally operational, while not completely finished the mats have been laid and training space cleaned and preped for use by the fastest growing kids/childrens mixed martial arts class in the Mississauga area.

Now if you like me you probably are thinking KIDS MMA???? Well dont let the terms “Mixed martial arts“ throw you off :) ours is not  a class filled with Mini cage fighters, instead our youth program focusses on the constructively positive  skills, habits and life lessons gained through the practice of martial arts.

New training area

No pics for you quite yet but the 2nd training area is almost operational so the 7 dragons  martial arts class schedule will be expanding.

We also have returned to our regular schedule for very popular grappling fundamentals program.

Grappling fundamental is a class taught by UFC competitor Claude Patrick,  focusing on the movements strategies and tactics needed to be competent on the ground in a grappling situation. While not a “mixed martial arts” class class per say  the techniques taught reflect the often overlooked possibility that while grappling there’s often the possibility of being punched in the face, picked up and slammed ect.

So while not a sport Brazilian Jiu-jitsu or wrestling class this class does implement many of the most effective techniques taken from a variety of grappling styles so a great place to start your training and learn the basics of how to effectively navigate the ground in a combat situation.

Thanks to everyone for all the support leading up to ufc 140 on dec 10th.

for the first time in 13 fights i came up on the loosing end of a very close decision being debated all over the net. Congratulations to brian ebersole for making it a good fight and pushing me hard in training to improve my skills in preparations for the ufc event. 

win lose or draw at elite the evolution of our skills is the objective behind come competition and my training camp in south florid with the team jaco has me back with a bag of new tricks.  

I’m injury free and back teaching classes this week tuesday and thursday at 7pm grappling fundamentals inside elite training centre.

First off we have our final level 1 muay thai testing being held nov 19th starting at 2pm.

The testing will be run by kru’s Dj Dallaire  & Alin Halmagean of our partner school Iron tiger muay.

congratulations on Kru Alin’s opening stoney creeks premier combat sports training facility with classes starting this past week and things going well with the all new multi-functional gym things are looking great.

With our new expansion well underway the schedule will no doubt be changing and getting larger but until after UFC 140 where our program co-ordinator Claude Patrick will be competing on Dec 10th 2011,  Kru Carlton will be teaching the new 6pm – 7pm muay thai foundations class held every Monday And Wednesday.

Members can also look forward to the new fitness area decked out with cardio & strength training equipment plus the very best in functional training gear…ie  Kettlebells, Olympic lifting stations, Bulgarian bags, medicine slam balls, battling ropes ect..  should be good to go by November 1st. The new space will add a lot of flexibility to the current schedule allowing for more classes and later 7 dragons martial arts classes for all the parents finding it challenging to get the kids in for the 5pm class.
